What is Reiki?

Reiki energy healing is a holistic technique used by a certified Reiki healer to channel healing energy and directs it to a patient. This directed energy activates healing within the patient's body restoring emotional, mental and physical well-being.

The certified Reiki practitioner has completed a series of attunements, classes, and hands-on practicum experience.

Reiki energy comes from source and is also known as life force energy, Chi, Ki or Prana.


How does Reiki work?

The certified healer becomes a channel of energy that is directed into the patient. Reiki energy moves through all three levels of consciousness–mental, physical, and spirit. Healing activates all aspects of your personal consciousness creating powerful and lasting results. Reiki healing energy knows where and what to heal within the patient's body, mind, and spirit.

Patients experience relaxation and rejuvenation. Some even experience warmth, pain relief, and activation of their intuitive senses including such things as visions.


How old is healing art of Reiki?

Reiki has been around as a healing art for thousands of years. However, in 1922 it was re-discovered, and formalized in Japan by Buddhist monk Dr. Mikao Usui.

The best way to learn if Reiki is for you is to experience Reiki directly. Join a Reiki energy circle or schedule an individual session.


Can I use Reiki?

Yes. Anybody can be trained to access and channel Reiki energy healing. No previous experience.


Can I use Reiki on myself?

Yes, Reiki is not just a healing tool, but it is a way of life. As a healer, the energy that passes through you works both for you and others.


What are the benefits of Reiki?

Do all healers use Reiki Energy?

Does the patient have to be present to receive Reiki healing?

No, Reiki is energy and energy is always in motion. You are directing that energy to the person at a distance (whether time or space).


What will I experience and feel during or after a Reiki session?

Every patient is unique, and so it varies. Patients experience relaxation and rejuvenation. Many experience warmth, pain relief, and activation of their intuitive senses including such things as visions.

In-person Reiki sessions are typically conducted on a massage table or in a chair (adaptable to almost any situation). The patient sits or lays comfortable while the practitioner works in the patient's subtle energy or auric field (about six includes from the physical body) channeling Reiki energy healing. Reiki knows where and what to heal within the patient's body, mind, and spirit.

The session can be at a distance (utilizing the telephone or video conferencing) with equal effectiveness. Some patient's report these sessions to be even more efficient.

What is a Reiki attunement?

A Reiki attunement is a sacred ceremony where a Reiki Master Teacher facilitates a new degree/level of Reiki into the student's energy system. This new degree/level allows the student to align to the heightened vibrational degree of Reiki energetically. The attunement is coupled with instruction, giving the student hands-on practicum experience channeling Reiki and acquiring new techniques, additional sacred symbols, and powerful tools.


Do I need to recharge Reiki?

It depends on your lifestyle. If you are maintaining balance and harmony, the energy will support your on-going well-being. If you are out of balance or in a state of disharmony, then your energy is not maintained, and you will need to replenish it. Everyone needs adequate downtime where they can re-charge. This process of maintaining your energy is known as energy management.

Depending on your reason for learning Reiki, the learning path may include up to four Reiki attunements (also known as degree and levels). Each degree builds upon the previous, leading the student on a beautiful journey of expansion, self-discovery and spiritual development.


Once attuned what will I be able to do?

What does it mean when my Chakras are balanced?

When your Chakras are balanced (or aligned), it means the energy you have within your subtle energy body is being used appropriately and efficiently which in turn is maintaining your overall well-being.


What does it mean to clear a Chakra?

In the event a Chakra becomes unbalanced (or blocked), it is necessary to identify the cause of the imbalance. Based on the identified cause, choosing new actions which restore balance as well as energy and in turn, maintain overall well-being.


Why is meditation important to my use of Reiki?

Meditation is important in the use of Reiki because 1) it allow you to calm the chatter of your mind allowing your mental and emotional energy, and 2) it allows energy to focus through the combination of intention and action. Focus allows the patient or student to create the desired outcome. We call this creating your reality.


What is an aura?

An aura (or auric field), is the mass of energy created by your personal thoughts and emotions as well as the energy that is moving through your energetic system at any given time. When you're in a state of well-being, your aura extends out from your body 3-5 feet. If your well-being is compromised, your auric field will likewise be significantly reduced.


Can I see an aura?

You may be able to see auras dependent on your intuitive gifts. Most individuals who can see auras, generally either see an outline or the current color. This symbology, when appropriate and with permission, can be used to guide the individual.
